Pine Tree Hospice’s Caregiver and Bereavement Book Club will discuss Mitch Albom’s The Time Keeper on Thursday, March 19 at 3:30 pm. This wonderful small book encourages the reader to stop marking off every minute of our lives and to live each  moment.

The Caregiver and Bereavement Book Club is geared toward those who are, or have been, caregivers, and to those who have lost a loved one, recently or in the past. You don’t have to have used Pine Tree Hospice’s services–everyone is welcome to attend.

Pine Tree Hospice’s Caregiver and Bereavement Book Club is a group for anyone who is or was a caregiver or who has lost a loved one, whether recently or in the past. Our readings are enjoyable and thought provoking.

Our next Book Club meeting is Thursday, February 20th, from 3:30 – 5:00pm at the Thompson Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft.  The reading for the month is The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, and you can pick up your book at the library after January 23rd.   Bring your questions and thoughts, and enjoy a discussion with a fun group of people

Pine Tree Hospice’s Book Club meets on November 19th from 3:30-5:00 pm at the Thompson Free Library. Our November reading is Juan F. Thompson’s Stories I Tell Myself. This is an engrossing read by the son of Gonzo Journalist Hunter S. Thompson and is for anyone who has cared for, and lost, an important figure in their lives.

This book club is geared towards those who are or have been caregivers, and those who have lost a loved one recently or in the past. The readings center on caregiving and bereavement. You can come to one or all of the book club meetings, there are no requirements to take part!

Pine Tree Hospice’s Caregiving and Bereavement Book Club is all new, with great readings that will have you looking forward to each meeting – bring your questions and comments or just listen and enjoy the discussion.

Our readings for October are a short story by Annie Proulx, “Family Man” (from the collection Fine Just the Way it Is), and a poem by Anne Bradstreet, “Before the Birth of One of Her Children.”  In the first reading, a man living in a retirement home tells his daughter about their family, as she wants to record an oral history.  He imparts a family secret that means far more to him than it does to her.  Anne Bradstreet, who was America’s first published female poet, recognized her frailty as a woman in the 1600s, and writes to her husband in case she dies during childbirth.  Both readings make us think about how people react to the loss of family, or the potential of loss.

Our book club will meet on October 17th, at The Thompson Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft, from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.  The reading materials will be available to borrow at the Thompson Free Library in the weeks prior to the meeting.  Anyone is welcome to join; we are looking forward to an interesting group with plenty to think, say and talk about – and you don’t need to attend each meeting to be part of this club.

There’s a New Book Club in Town! Pine Tree Hospice’s Caregiving and Bereavement Book Club is all new, with great readings that will have you looking forward to each meeting with your questions and comments. This book club begins with The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. This poignant and compelling love story is about loss and discovery, grief, and caring. It tells the story of a man who lives for his wife and journeys with her as she loses herself to Alzheimer’s Disease. The Notebook is set in the post-war rural south, a spectacular location where this wonderful story unfolds and takes you into a beautiful life.

Our first meeting will be on September 19, at The Thompson Free Library, from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. The reading materials will be available to borrow at the Thompson Free Library after August 20th.
