Who qualifies for a free library card?
Anyone who lives or owns property in Dover-Foxcroft qualifies for a free Thompson Free Library card. All students and educators at SeDoMoCha and Foxcroft Academy also qualify, as do local businesses and nonprofits.
How do I get a library card?
It’s easy to get a library card! Just complete an application (forms are available at the library) and present a valid ID.
- Residents and property owners: If your ID does not have a current Dover-Foxcroft address, we also need proof of your residency or taxpayer status, such as a recent utility bill, rent receipt, vehicle registration, piece of mail, or tax bill.
- Students and educators: Please bring a school ID, report card, or other paperwork showing student or educator status.
- Businesses and nonprofits: The library is happy to partner with community organizations to provide materials, resources, and information. [Application for Business or Nonprofit]
What if I live out of town?
Non-resident library memberships are available for an annual fee of $20.
How old do I have to be to get a library card?
Children age 5 and older can register for a library card. Minors under age 14 must have a parent or guardian co-sign their library card application. The co-signer is responsible for fines and fees associated with the card.
Please note: The Thompson Free Library does not withhold access to materials from any cardholder regardless of age.
Can we get a family card?
Library cards are issued in one name only. However, non-resident cardholders may authorize additional family borrowers on their account.
Please see our Circulation Policy for more information about using your library card.
