In Mexico, Maine, the paper mill provided jobs for everyone in town, but with a price everyone paid. The mill was the economic and social glue of the town, but also led to its demise. Mill Town is a book of narrative nonfiction, investigative memoir, and cultural criticism that asks: Who or what are we willing to sacrifice for our own survival?
It received the Maine Literary Award, the Rachel Carson Environment Book Award, and was a finalist for many other awards.
